timing chain?? Empty timing chain??

Post by boostedka_s13 Tue Sep 01, 2009 4:53 pm

how loose is the timing chain supposed to be on on side? or is it supposed to be loose at all? cause mine is. and when the motor is running it sounds like the timing chain is rattling. anyone know what this could be? could the timing be off? because also it wont rev past 3k rpm when i drive it. and it runs pretty rough. thanks.

does anyone have a good thread for a timing chain install?

In my experience with maf's if it doesnt rev past 3 or 4K then its probable that ur maf has gone bad i know theres a way to check it but im not sure how.

FTFY. lol, I'm bored and lurking. Anyways. Yank the valve cover off and spray them tensioners with some WD and free up that shit! Don't just take out the guides.

Before buying a new mafs, check if the connector is good and connected. Happened to a cousin of mine, he swapped a whole motor in to find out the connector was cracked and wouldn't hold on to the mafs. He used some tape to hold it together.

Timing chain shouldn't be loose. I mean, loose chain with the motor reving thousands of rpm? If you got some cash, buy new guides or a whole timing chain kit, it isn't that hard to do.
