If your wanting to import a motor from japan read this
You better think about doing it NOW!
i heard from some pretty legit people that Jarco is only selling what they have left in stock and then they are going to be shipping the parts from the US to Japan, And that the US goverment is starting to crackdown on what can and can't come into the united states. i'm not sure how this will effect the motor swap places that are out of Canada, or other places, but i have HEARD there is a few other importing places that are having troubles.

I am going to take a wild ass guess and say Jarco was skirting the rules or something of that nature and they got busted. I very much doubt that it will become illegal to import motors from japan. The only thing I could imagine that could come into play would be importation of motors that never saw USA streets.. SR/RB for example.
Even then, you should be able to buy them for a track car. Commiefornia seems like they would have something to do with this situation.

Anyone know how much it costs to import a car from canada?
a skyline for example?
a skyline for example?
Re: If your wanting to import a motor from japan read this
So uhm? from Japan to canada to here?
or just from Canada to here?
i'm not real sure, i've seen some cheap everything in canada, but i'd be leary of trying to bring it into the states. a friend of a friend bought a mustang Cobra (98) from canada and he had a bitch of a time getting it accross the border.
best bet (IMO) is bring a plate in another car and buy the car and drive it back with your plates on the car and say you crossed through yesterday.... last time i went through BP into canada it was a pretty quick and easy thing.

Do your homework on skyline importation, there is no truly safe and legal way to do it.

Re: If your wanting to import a motor from japan read this
actually there is a safe way to get a skyline. you just get the hole car and not drivetrain. you build it and then it is considered a KIT car. www.kaizoindustries.com. an r34 rwd is like 25,000, r34 awd 50,000, an r34 spec-v is like 55,000, and an S-15 like 15,000.

a Kit Car is not a skyline. sure it is the chassis and you put the same motor/components in but its on a kit car frame. not a true skyline.
Re: If your wanting to import a motor from japan read this
kaizo is just trying to use a loophole..

Re: If your wanting to import a motor from japan read this
and like most loopholes it's gonna close.
people were buying Skyline shells and other cars and then got them put together in the states and now those places are no longer open (Evoimports, etc)
skylines aren't legal they never will be excpet the 8-10? Motorex cars taht are still running around. only other way you can get one is through a loophole.

To be frank, its not worth the hassle to own a skyline IMO. Ill bet if they were more common around here nobody would be interested anyway.

R33's were the ones that were legal when motorex was bringing them up to the safety codes.. but that all ended.
Re: If your wanting to import a motor from japan read this
fuck that. r34's are sexy and all but im not having homeland security all on my dick. id rather drop a 25 in an s chassis and call it a day.
