Lilskyline's Project Empty Lilskyline's Project

Post by lilskyline240 Mon May 04, 2009 1:16 am

Since ive done, Ca18, sr20, rb20, rb25, and 1jz swaps along with numberous KA-t setups and my Completely built Rb30 ive gotten quite bored lately. So what do you do when u get a free 89 coupe from your buddy for helpin him install a motor? You convert it to RHD for shits and giggles.

NO im not a JDM wannabe, or a RHD bandwagon retard. I owned a REAL 1992 nissan silvia and loved that car to death. I DIDNT think i was cool cuz its RHD. You can make fun of me all you want but until you drive a RHD S chassis dont say shit bout my idea to go RHD with my spare shell. It is my firm belief that the S chassis should be drivin on the right side. It makes Heel-toeing 100 times easier for us Taller ppl because there isnt a E-brake handle in your leg. Once the conversion is done my RB30 is going in this chassis. then my black coupe is going to get a new powerplant to serve as my daily driver

heres some pics of my silvia for all the doubters

Heres some pics of the spare shell the day i got it on Monday April 27th. Full of junk to. its a 89 white coupe. Manual windows and locks with no sunroof! Lightest 240 chassis made Smile

tuesday April 28thth we had alot more time and put about 8 solid hours into strippin the chassis completely. Body harness completely removed, and Everything that can be unbolted in the interior removed. heres pics from the end of day two

Thursday April 30th Rob (hatchfreak) and i put about 3 hours or so into removing the sound deadening material. Most of it is removed. We need about 2 or 3 more hours to get it completely removed then ill snap some pictures of the interior COMPLETELY stripped of everything. Next step is to take out the firewall. Cant do that till my front clip arrives at the end of the week. Id like to thank jeremy aka 2ndcar for towin that thing all the way back from Florida. I owe you man

i am using dry ice to do it. but the car was originally from Arizona and i think the heat really made the sound deadening stick hardcore. cuz even lettin the dry ice sit in one spot on the deadening for 15 min it still wont crack with a hammer like it should. Gotta chip it off slowly but surely. My black coupe only took me about 45 min to do completely. i wish it was that easy this time

and i do love my doritos lol Hopefully i can get some work done on it tuesday after work or thursday night if u wanna help

the wheel wells were a bitch and a half. I think the hardest part besides the vertical pieces on the trans tunnel. but i should have pics of it completely clean tomorrow night

Ah, well I can tell you they are not too easy to come by but folks do group buys from time to time. I have passed on two group buys that I know of so far in the last few years.

So, fairly rare in the states. Common as hell overseas.

what 1Jz swap did you do? Lilskyline's Project 911641

the silvia you had was pretty damn cool, LOL @ the night you and hunter and me,liz were up at culvers and i was makin fun of the JDMness lol.

That car looks pretty damn clean from the pics. so it's going rhd and then the RB30 is going in it? then whats going in the black car?

Honest question how much does the sound deadning actually weigh that it makes sense to take it out? i took it out of the trunk of the coupe and then stopped cause it didn't seem to weigh anything.

just the hatch area and rear seat area in mine weighed about 50-60lbs. the whole floor and firewall area is probably about 100 or so.

its not so much for weight savings as it is for aesthetics, that shit is UGLY
