Re: hi, i'm kind of new around here...
umm long story short.
i was using shitty oil (royal purple)
it got dirty and clogged up my cylinder 1 oil squirter
so that cylinder got really hot
block warped, oil galley constricted
oil pressure went way up and spun my filters off
then from there it just got worse, all 4 bearings grenaded, crank, block, rods, head, cams, etc were all junk..
i got a new motor now though.
edit: I just noticed you can see my car in your sig pic. sweet

i'm shocked
Which weight royal purple were you using?
I've used royal purple fluids for my motors and transmission in my dc2, ap1, and both my s13's with sr's.............

i was always under the impression that it was really good shit. but according to big jon and the guy who did the machine work, royal purple caused the problem. they told me why but i dont remember the whole explanation. something about RP relying on detergents to clean out deposits and shit, but it doesnt actually protect the bearings at all.
ryan clemens also had troubles when he put RP in his motor, luckily he noticed it right away and changed it out.
I've got some eneos 0w50 i want to try out when i get the new potato rolling, but i'm not sure if i'm going to use it full time.
