Ummm, I was talking about going from a 2871 and supporting mods back to stock. Sheesh.LongGrain wrote:
think what you want but dont talk until you actually own one. theres a reason I threw a $2500 engine in the garbage. and it was definitely not because i felt like "downgrading"

2871r makes me waste more gas.
cuz it's way too fun.
i'd rather get aero or something and paint my car.
i'm sorry that you're going CA.

are you kidding me? im guessin u never rode in a GTiR t28 powerd SR s13 then huh? cuz my buddy had a s14 t28 at 20psi and then went with the GTiR t28 i sold him and made 24whp more on the dyno at the same boost level and he only boosted like 200rpm later. That car SCREAMS now
idk why your sorry bout that? i would be sayin sorry to him if he was puttin in an aluminum block motor that has the worst head design in the world *cough cough* SR20 *cough cough*ricefest wrote:i'm sorry that you're going CA.
Re: How much Boost is safe for an SR?
iron block doesnt mean shit. i had a CA18 bored to 1.9 liters with forged internals and it was still garbage.

Re: How much Boost is safe for an SR?
Garbage probably cause you fucked up somewhere, you can't just tune the CA like every other motor. But I'm not getting into the CA Vs SR debate, they both have their pros and cons.

i wouldnt be so much worried bout the iron vs aluminum block as much as i would be worried bout head design..
Re: How much Boost is safe for an SR?
cam over bucket is nothing to rave about either. big deal if SR's have rocker arms, $50 rocker arm stoppers and you never have to worry about them.
no matter what you like to think because you own an RB. Aftermarket support for SR's is ten times that of CA and RB combined. the CA would be a great platform if it had actually been utilized for more than 2 years or so.
see i dont have to "worry" about my head design, because guess what. if something breaks i can upgrade with the click of a mouse. I dont have to try to hunt down parts from the 6 people in the US that own CA's...

You're forgetting about the pulsar that came with the CA18DE. Any autoparts stores will carry parts for them.

14psi and up is getting beyond the turbos efficiency range, that and given the age/mileage on the turbo its not gonna hold up very well. Id say leave it around 12 to be safe and have it last til you can get a new one.
Re: How much Boost is safe for an SR?
GT47-88 and 42psi and you'lll be set.....

Re: How much Boost is safe for an SR?
how many times do we have to tell you before you get it. 14psi out of a T25 PERIOD. end of discussion
you want to upgrade?
S14 T28- $300
compressor inlet/outlet clocking flanges - $100
stainless lines- $150
done, good for about 10psi. want more? get a PFC, some 550's and a Z32maf and make ~300whp with plenty of room for expansion.
do some research, the answers are all out there.. its pretty basic stuff...

Thanks man but i sold the car. Good info thread though for the most part
Re: How much Boost is safe for an SR?
I got a built bottom end eagle rods cp pistons, and a brian crower stage 2 head setup with some rocker arm stoppers (learn from mistakes) cheap insurance, bullseye turbo, peak boost top mount mani that just cracked at the weld actually but i was putting down 20psi and the car loved it, its all about the tune and having it set up properly, and keeping up with maintnance like plugs and oil helps alot too

Re: How much Boost is safe for an SR?
for a little while i ran 17-18 psi out of my T28 on stock s13sr and it ran fine. i'm sure my injectors were hating it, but it took it like a champ.
